In times like these the advice to “lighten up” seems vital for emotional survival yet easier said than done. If you feel weighed down by your current challenges, try closing your eyes and visualizing one of the following:
Imagine the weight you feel on your shoulders or in your heart gradually lifting, as if some unseen hands are taking hold of the weight, lifting it up and moving it away from you. Stretch your arms up and slightly back to open the shoulders and chest. Allow yourself to feel the weight lifting from your shoulders and your heart for the next few moments.
Picture a white light coming in through the top of your head and slowly moving down your spine and out through your arms and legs. Feel the light penetrating deeper into your muscle, tissues and bones. Imagine the light moving even deeper into every molecule and atom of your body. Let this white light literally lighten you up.
Visualize the space around you expanding outward in all directions. Imagine that you have more space around you in which to move. Allow your body to feel more expanded within the larger space around you. Let your breathing expand to accommodate the larger space. – AR
