The Fourth Chakra is located in the center of the chest. Also known as the Heart Chakra, energy in this center flows through the heart, lungs, cardiac plexus and thymus gland. It is associated with love and compassion, healing and immunity, and with the color green.
Focusing on the Fourth Chakra may help release blocked energy in the heart and promote greater compassion and self-acceptance. Meditating on the Fourth Chakra may also help boost the immune system and balance the emotions.
Suggested Fourth Chakra Meditation:
Bring your attention to the Fourth Chakra and imagine energy radiating forward from the mid-spine, flowing through the center of the chest and projecting outward in front of you. Feel the chest area expand and contract with each breath in and out. Allow the chakra energy to gather at the mid-spine on the in-breath and flow through the chest and out in front on the out-breath. If you can picture the color green in your mind’s eye, see the chakra energy as a vivid green as it radiates forward and outward, providing vital energy to the heart, lungs and thymus gland. Envision your immune system strengthening and your feelings of love, compassion and self-acceptance expanding as you connect on a deep level with Fourth Chakra energy.
Continue working with the healing energy of the Fourth Chakra until you are ready to end your meditation or to shift to another focus.
About the Chakras
The word chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or disk and according to tradition signifies one of seven basic energy centers in the body. They are thought to be spinning disks of energy that correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. It is widely thought that keeping the energy in the chakras unblocked and balanced can help support good health and internal harmony.
